Dare To Be Innovative

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 1 month ago

The 'Wiki Encyclopedia of CityReaching' is collaboratively sponsored by the 'Center For Urban Innovation'... "Producing Innovative Multicultural CityReachers."

(Maybe...) Operation Timothy Unit #____   "Dare To Be Innovative."

DRAFTING... way early in the process... Pardon our dust... And for now, we'll consider this training to be headed the exact same direction as the term 'e-collaborative' (previously limited to e-capable).

 insert video overview here

Page Objective:  Collaboratively develop a brand new unit for inclusion into the 'Operation Timothy' series, for life-on-life mentoring of disciples... to become disciple-makers.  [Preferably, work this new unit into the somewhat early portion of the series so that it can be ongoingly useful during the remainder of the OT series.  And after all, if the concepts below are important (and they ARE), then you'd want your Timothy to be able to interact & practice with it from 'this point forward'... right?]  Consider this to be a shortened version of the innovative training goal of the 'Center For Urban Innovation'.

Timothy Objective:    The Apostle Paul wrote, "Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you."  He also (reference?) wrote that he would use whatever opportunity or methods, to do so. (paraphrased for now).  Moreover, Jonathan Edwards resolution... to use whatever INVENTION to prosper his higher goals... yada yada.  So the objective in this unit is that our Timothys would possess & implement this mentality as they in turn seek to replicate disciple-makers at the speed of Light (as practical).  Humans (vs. animals) are tool-users... which give us great advantage over non-tool-users.  So if the message of the gospel is important, it's VITALLY important that we user practical tools to connect the Church, and to convey the gospel compellingly.

At the end of this unit, our Timothys should be able to...

  • Know where to go to easily acquire basic internet training skills to become an 'e-capable' Christian.  [Internet Toolkit]  [And these may even become a Training e-Trainers program leaders.]
  • Moreover, they should know why it's important they be 'e-collaborative'... and not just 'e-capable'.  [Also see Eldon's new unit re Collaborative CityReaching, when available.]
  • Access the internet, know how to do basic surfing, searching, and email.
  • Learn to create a wiki-page for themselves.
  • Create a link in their page, to other pages... inside the wiki or outside the wiki.
  • Insert an image/picture into their page.
  • Insert their favorite plugin... GodTube video, etc. into their wiki-page.
  • Chart a course forward... how you will progress in the future toward adeptness in the following skills...
  • Make their own video and insert it into their page.
  • Know what 'tagging' is... and why it's important for us.
  • Know what 'social networking' is... and why it's important for us.
  • Know what 'blogging' is... and what it's potentially good for.

How To Accomplish That?   Here's a basic outline of the unit...

  • Create links to ASSIGNMENTS... such as watch the CommonCraft video-clips.
  • Maybe help them get started with warm-up session the week before, so they won't be stuck from the outset.  Eg. creating a wiki-page is a great start toward practicing all the rest.
  • During your Unit discussion then, actually link to their wiki-page from the "Timothy Tree".
  • Assign FUTURE assignments as well... especially such as getting a TAGGING account... so you can share things.  And frankly, tagging is a difficult concept to be able to take a person from 0 - 60 in one lesson.  It's something you have to EXPERIENCE somewhat, before you can really go to the next level.  But it's totally important, as a foundational collaborative tool.  It's like adding meta info to the internet index.
  • Note:  Once your Timothy can do some of these things online... the sky is the limit, re your future life-on-life training... because suddenly, they're Skypable, they're able to in turn train their small group, etc... and you can readily refer them to great Timothy training things online and/or great ways to impact others in their community at the speed of Light.
  • Caveat:  The internet is NOT the key to heaven.  And Jesus pre-dates the internet.  So let's keep the focus where it needs to be.  The only reason I need the internet, is to better accomplish the mission Jesus gave me to do in this age & time.
