How can my Indy church or small group respond to this emergency?
- Already affiliated with a disaster-relief ministry or agency? If so, contact them and let them know you're anxious to get involved. And drop us a line at Info@ReadyIndy.org -- we greatly appreciate knowing what churches are affiliated with whom.
- NOT yet affiliated? Contact us at info@ReadyIndy.org -- we'd like to help you locate a good fit, and build a relationship.
- Start identifying your core team. Many of these emergency/disaster-relief agencies share a common teamwork protocol in order to facilitate effective interactions. Identify these 5 key touch-points within your church or small-group. Each of them will soon be interacting with the corresponding person from any organization you work with.
- Team-Leader -- who has the time & capacity to lead the special effort. Typically this is NOT the pastor, but it could be. Responsible overall for the team and mission success... and for interacting with affiliated ministries or agencies.
- Operations officer -- the person you know you can turn to, to 'get things done'. Is a hands-on, tactical leader. Will direct your volunteers.
- Logistics officer -- supports the team by finding resources: supplies, transportation and volunteers. Process volunteers before assigning to the Operations officer.
- Planning / Public Information Officer -- the 'scribe'. Communications & Documentation person.
- PCS officer -- keeps the team focused on the spiritual aspects of prayer, care & share. May already be the Prayer leader in your church or small-group.
What if I'm just an INDIVIDUAL wanting to help. How can I connect with a team that needs help?
- Consider a local church near you who would love to have you join their team. If you need help finding such a church, drop us a line at Info@ReadyIndy.org.
