What would a 'Prayer Officer' be preparing us to do in an emergency?

Everyday:  Recruit folks to... Join us in PRAYING!

  • Reach the #PRAYER warriors on the @ReadyVOST team to join-in.
  • And here's our list (drafting) of other Prayer leaders to be contacted in an emergency.  (Ideally, everyone already is receiving @IndyPrayer items as texts directly to their phones.  Yes?  Here's how.)

The following is a cut/paste from... (CEN guide?)

Prayer is

first for all people, a thankful attitude, and a focus upon peace through lives filled with worship and the love of God. This is what pleases

our Lord.

The

daily practice of worship, prayer, obedience to God, practicing emergency responses of all kinds, and responding as God leads in prayer are

essential habits.

• Prayer Station - A prayer center where survivors can seek God’s provision and grace and receive prayer from clergy and church

members.

c. Establish meetings with the CET in the mornings during deployment. Facilitate/

delegate daily prayer/devotion time and brief your team. Debrief at the end of the

day and conclude with prayer.

Public Information Officer (PIO) - Responsible to communicate both internally and externally for the CET. The PIO guides the emergency prayer response and works with the Emergency Prayer Team Leader.

Emergency Prayer Leader - Responsible for developing prayer networks within the church and working with the PIO to develop and communicate prayer prompts during crises. The Prayer Leader assists the care and share leaders.

o At least 25% of the church is committed to provide Pray-Care-Share efforts during and after crises or disasters.

o Prayer for the church and the community is alive and well, via an Emergency Prayer Team approach.

Tragedies need to be prayerfully, carefully and sensitively always be brought back to one’s personal

relationship with Jesus Christ. When your CET/PCS leaders already understand and apply these principles sequentially and consistently,

you will build the models for your church to grow in emergencies of all kinds.

A good starting place to locate your potential CET/PCS Team is found in existing programs already offered in your church; such as prayer ministry leaders, compassionate care leaders, and outreach ministries of all kinds which clearly present the Gospel as a part of the ministry. These ministry leaders may already have the skills and gifts needed to lead the emergency focus as well or refer to those within their ministry group who would have the heart and passion for emergency CET/PCS Team.

Church Emergency Team (CET)/Emergency Pray-Care-Share (PCS) Team Set-up

When emergencies happen in the community, the ReadyChurchSM is prepared to respond in three ways:

 • Prayer - praying for those in crisis and disaster, responding to requests for one-on-one prayer, and calling others to pray.
