Instructions during the prayer walk and the prayer rally.

  1. Be spiritually prepared - acronym P.R.A.Y. Praise, Repent, Ask and Yield.
  2. Teams of three seem to be best, four is OK, and five is too large.
  3. Pray together as a team prior to the beginning of the walk.
  4. Pray with your eyes open, sensitive to that which might prompt prayer.
  5. Reinforce prayers of other team members before changing the subject of prayer.
  6. Stop for more intense prayer as the occasion calls for it.
  7. Forget phrases like “lead, guide and direct” and talk with God in a conversational manner.
  8. Use scripture in your prayer - either direct quotes or paraphrases.
  9. Don’t be afraid of silence. It is OK to walk and pray silently for a time.
  10. Smile and be pleasant to people you meet. God may be working in their life. Pray for them.
  11. It is OK if prayer-walking feels awkward the first few times. It will feel more comfortable.
  12. Singing is often an effective way to pray and praise.
  13. If praying becomes difficult, admit it to your team and ask them to pray for you.
  14. Be flexible as the Holy Spirit leads.
  15. Pray together as a team at the conclusion of the walk and prepare to walk around the circle.

How to prepare?

We all want to pray the prayers of the righteous that avail much. So how do we get their? Repentance. Try the following the acronym P.R.A.Y. Praise, Repent, Ask and Yield.

So what to talk about?

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV) And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

In the forefront of our mind will of course be Faith, Hope & Love and how that relates to our surroundings. Judging by the content of the above scripture your subject matter will be of great interest to our heavenly Father. Remember to open yourself up to the Holy Spirit.

SUGGESTED PRAYERS

(Feel free to use the following ideas as prayer starters.)

• GOD'S PURPOSES of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission - to be joyously lived out in each person's life to the glory of God

• GOD'S PREPARATION of each man, woman, teen, and child's heart for what He desires to do in each life

• GOD'S PROTECTION from distractions, worries, problems, and concerns for each individual.

• GOD'S PRESENCE in each person's life as He personally challenges him or her to take the next baby step or giant leap in living a life for God.

• GOD'S PROVISIONS of energy, time, and resources for each individual who has steps out in faith.

• GOD'S GRACE to be released in the life of each person involved in the Campaign, sending a wave of spiritual growth through our communities - including our churches, schools, and businesses

• GOD'S SALVATION for each person who has not yet taken the step of committing his or her life to Jesus Christ; pray for the Good News to be communicated clearly and powerfully to each person

• GOD'S BLESSINGS poured out on individuals and families who are a godly influence in their community

• GOD'S WISDOM to be given to each parent and educator, as well as each church, business, and community leader who is in a position to boldly impact lives for Christ during this Campaign of FHL

• GOD'S CONVICTION OF SIN in each person's life, along with a willingness to repent, receive forgiveness, and be reconciled to God and others

• GOD'S HEALING TOUCH to all who suffer from physical, emotional, or psychological concerns that could prevent them from fully participating in the FHL Campaign

• GOD'S POWER to touch each person's heart to respond to

Him with honor, thanksgiving, and praise

SUGGESTED SCRIPTURES

(Don't forget to use Scripture to guide your prayers. You can be confident of praying the will of God when you pray the Word of God. Here are some verses that will help you pray, beginning with a Psalm of personal commitment and confession. If you want to use other passages, just bring a small Bible along.)

Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant. For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Psalm 25:4-11 (NIV)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD. Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV)

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of

God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14 (NIV)

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men - the testimony given in its proper time. 1 Timothy 2:1-6 (NIV)

I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:16-21 (NIV)
