Model City Plan

What is the biblical concept of PLANNING?  What is God's Plan?  And did Abraham, Moses, David, Nehemiah, Paul and others plan accordingly?  Do our plans express our intentionality to carry out the mission at hand -- ie, the Whole Commission?  We'd like to start discussing the process of PLANNING together, city by city... in hopes of learning much from one another.

And over time, here in the 'Wiki Encyclopedia of City Reaching', build something approaching a 'Model City Plan'.  That is, a 'template' of basic principles & elements of a good plan.

We can at least start by observing some plans in process...

Caveats re PLANNING...

Other Stray Thoughts, Ideas, Questions about Planning...

  •  What OBSTACLES have any of you come up against, re reaching your city for Christ?  And how MIGHT you plan to overcome them?

***********************

From Neil, in Indianapolis... As we're starting the 2008 planning process here in Indy, We may be boiling everything down to... how to pursue (and measure progress) the following key areas.

  • Prepare (ie, connecting, for now -- starting by numbering the well-linked partners on the team re Transform Indiana)
  • Prayer (est. number of collaborative prayer-hours that we know of... and prosper)
  • Care (some sample ratings by our neighbors -- how much does the most-local church care about you?)
  • Share (% coverage... how many of our total households can we say positively have seen/heard an optimal presentation of the gospel?  And I don't mean 'doorhangers', either!  LOL)
  • Dare  (some measure of ongoing effort at 'innovation'... to continually accelerate everything to new levels... ie, preparing for CHANGE in other words)
And then, bottom line... try to get a hold of objective Barna stats for our city re "Biblical Worldview"... (4% nationally) which seems to be the best benchmark city-by-city of the OUTCOMES of the Great Commission.  If we're actually DOING IT, won't that Barna stat go up each year?
