Java Chaplains .org
[notice all 3 names come here... JavaChaplains.org, JavaChaplains.com, JavaChaplain.com]

- Identify yourself in public coffeehouses... with a bright ball cap with a cross and the words JavaChaplains.com
(Ellen, think about splitting it into 3 lines... Java & Chaplains & .com) [I'm thinking bright purple cap with white lettering... or vice-verse... they'd not only stand out, they're the UBcafe colors. Think about the color purple of the cafe awnings.]
- Wear it when you come in and order your coffee, etc..... If you're in YOUR neighborhood coffeeshop very often, they'll remember you. Display it on your table at your local Panera, Paradise Bakery, Starbucks, etc.

- Who...
-
- lots of folks... in Indy and beyond. [Bible-believing]
- (certainly a high percentage of our Transform Indiana and CBMC type guys.)
- [let's develop a common 'covenant'... before selling anyone a hat.]
- Preferably those with the spiritual gifts of "drinkin' coffee & shootin' the breeze." **LOL**
- Preferably have a wireless laptop.
- What... Being available to the public. Build relationships. Be available for prayer. Be available for FAQ's. Be available to direct folks to compassion ministry as appropriate. Be a connecting point in your neighborhood.
- When... whenever you want to. Just take your ballcap along.
- Where... your local Panera, Paradise Bakery or Starbucks.
- Why... Because our neighborhoods need an outpost -- a 'third place' -- like this. Our churches don't fill this role, or they're too scary.
- How... [I'm trying to reach our CCDA affiliate in Chicago -- 'YMEN' (contact DJ) who's doing hat-printing, etc.... Perhaps our cafe guys could become a 'branch'?] And btw, of course this will no doubt lead to better discipling even among ourselves... ie, Operation Timothy type training, with some a little training in the 'Worldview Toolkit' here in the wiki.

Here's an example of a different twist - Loop Pizza Grill hired a chaplain for its employees - the chaplain doesn't minister to customers

Sign me up! I think this is a great idea. Let me know how much a hat costs. I like the white hat with purple lettering personaly. I would prefer blue lettering. However whatever you chose will work.
