Ellen's Personal /Technological Strategy
This page is so very much in process. But at least I have started.
TOP 10+ COMPUTER TOOLS THAT I USE ROUTINELY
Whenever I log onto the computer I typically open the following:
Firefox web-browser because I can use
Delicious Button to tag (social bookmarking)
Gmail ## absolute highest priority to check at least once a day... usually 3 to 4 times day... not so much on weekends.
I prefer GMail because it loads faster, looks cleaner than other mail service, I really like the chat feature integrated, search the mail, label or archive.
Google Reader --- News and information from those things important to me. What's new? Ideas. Friends. Knowledge.
Google Docs --- Since I am on a Mac...and do not own MSOffice software... this tool has become instrumental in my being able to view MS Office documents. ALSO --- I LOVE using GoogleDocs for collaboration purposes... spread sheets/ questionaires etc.
Blogger--Dashboard -- post to one of many journals: personal growth, pain, IndyChristian, FHL, UBCafe
Flickr -- photos A big part of my presence on the web for UBCafe and Christian Outreach.
Facebook - mostly check on current friend's postings and messages --Networking tool.
FriendFeed - keep current with friends/happenings on an hour to hour basis. -- personal networking-- shares and prayers.
Twhirl = twitter : use for dings of notice when friends post and quick read window.
Wiki- City Reaching --- reading others changes; info posting reorganizing/ teaching comments. Collaboration.

Prioritize My Timeline
- Make the most of the time...the days are fleeting ... HOW do I use my time?
- First thing in the morning ask for God's help in keeping the First things First!
- Check in with God and husband throughout the day about decisions.
- Accountability with husband. What do you have planned for today? Lunchtime: how's it going; check-in.
- Re-examine tasks when time is running out. Does the planned activity fit into my focused objective?
- Okay... so not ALL of my objectives are as focused as they could be... as an creative-artist, and a chronic pain suferer... I am a bit more serendipitous and flexibility/ability-scheduled.
Sharpen Current Skills
- Daily practice my music skills to hone them.
- When the day is done... what did I learn today...what did I improve upon today?
Learning/Growing
- I will always read my Bible everyday. I will use the Word for Today resource to help me chart a daily devotional.
- I will initiate a conversation on the way home from church regarding our morning Sunday School lessons.
- I use any opportunity that I must wait in a line to get to know something about someone standing/sitting next to me. Often, we get around to talking about God/Jesus, blessings and prayer.
- Part of my growing can be documented in journalling. Some just for personal use.... other entries to share with and encourage others.
Fun/Enjoyment
- I will schedule in times for recreation and exploring the wonders of God's creation for myself and my family to enjoy.
- Play with our animals is as good for me as it is for them.
- FRESH AIR AND SUNSHINE!! Good for the soul. Good for the body. Good for the Spirit.
Disperse Info
- Who do I need to contact? [phone, email, letter]
- Keep in contact with friends on a rotating basis (use facebook updates, walls, blogging)
Don't Forget!
- Keep One calendar with me at all times and up-to-date. After supper, in the evening, synchronize this calendar with the Family Calendar in the kitchen.
- Journal for the day. Today I'm grateful for... at least one thing. And how God helped me in some specific way that day: or what I've learned.
