Mentoring is essential to the process of true discipling. The class below is a great way to learn from two of Chico's more intense Business Leaders Rory Rottschalk & Bill Such. Please visit the above link to the Center for Tranformation Studies website for more info.
The purpose of this course is to present MENTORING as the healer and preserver of society. As a key part of this discussion, we will look to Jesus Himself, both through His Word and example, to see if such an emphasis exists. Jesus’ interaction with his disciples in the Synoptic (Matthew, Mark and Luke) gospels will provide a metaphor for understanding how mentorship can be approached in the 21st century.
If we determine together that mentoring is the prescription for poverty’s many faces, then it makes sense to develop mentoring models that address the cultural issues of our day. Specifically, the class will examine cultural areas that need transformation. Strategies for mentoring will be explored, developed and implemented.
Our Goal
The goal of the class is to present mentoring as a significant cultural value and to create a mentoring climate in Chico and the surrounding area (Butte County) for disenfranchised groups and individuals such as at-risk elementary school students and families, teen-aged mothers, gang members, the homeless, methadone addicts and parolees.
