The valley extends for approximately 45 miles in Riverside County southeast from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Salton Sea.   The Coachella Valley is comprised of a number of contiguous communities, the most well-known of which is Palm Springs. The valley also includes Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage.  Unincorporated towns include Bermuda Dunes and Thousand Palms in the east side of the valley...."
