Who?
- It's God's communication. To YOU. To US... individually and together.
- Maybe even study it TOGETHER... sharpening one another throughout a city? (see 'Where' below)
-
Study God's Word together? Here's a bi-monthly example...
For other opportunities to study God's Word in your community, see the WHERE section below.
What?
- Here are some great online BIBLE sites...
- Some FAQ's about the Bible... at ChristianAnswers.Net.
- And here's a great NT that's perfect for urban use. It's now back in print, at subsidized prices (appx $1.50 ea).
- "For all scripture is God-breathed, ...and suitable for... everything that's important in life." (pardon the paraphrase)
- Interesting verse: 2 Cor. 1:13 "For we do not write you anything that you cannot read or understand."
When?
- Depends on how soon you want to know what God has in store for you. The Apostle Paul said "Now is the acceptable time." (2 Corinthians 6:2) You and I do not know what tomorrow will bring. We each one have an appointment with God: 1) God has plans for each one of us and our lives (Jeremiah 29:11) 2) We will meet God face to face at the Judgement Seat to render an account to HIm for how we spent that life. (Romans 14: 10-12)
- Join a group of people in your area who are getting together weekly to encourage each other and discuss what they're reading. Get help from others who are walking with God to help you in your walk with Him.
Where?
Why?
- If for no other reason than you don't want to be more ignorant of its content, than the millions of people who HAVE read it.
- Or at best... so you too can have peace & joy with God Almighty... now & forevermore.
- Don't guess. Know His best for your life.
- Others can intercede for you and with you in prayer to know God's will for you. No one can tell you what God's personal will for you is but God, but we can all help each other be accountable to God's moral will and His Sovereign will as set forth in the Bible. This is where Bible study becomes important. To conform our lives to his "good and perfect will" (Romans 12:2) for our lives. As we get to know God, when we come to the Cross and surrender our lives to Jesus, as we follow Him into our own baptism, we then receive a Counselor, the Holy Spirit, who now indwells as a gift (comes to live on the inside of us) to help us understand the scriptures we're reading and studying. We now have the awesome privilege as asking for that help in prayer whenever we need it. We now have through the Bible and the Holy Spirit, access to the awesome wisdom of God to help us live Holy and pleasing lives to God, make good decisions, and be given strength to face whatever comes. (Philippians 4:13)
